Yeah, I’m reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy right now along with other work by Tolkien and can’t seem to be able to think about anything else. I can’t get over what a brilliant author and poet he was and how magnificent influence he has had on the world of Fantasy in other epic novels. I seriously doubt I would have been the same person without him.

My first official blog will be about a movie. An animation to be precise. I was sitting with my friend the other night and we somehow ended up on youtube and found this link to a old song from an animation. It was a song from the movie, Quest for Camelot. What a wonderful movie. I watched it over and over again when I was younger - but I hadn’t seen it in about 12 years so I figured I could as well watch it on youtube. Nostalgia! Wow. And it’s so different to watch it now when I’m that much older. I almost want to be a child again. I feel bad for the generation that now can only watch these 3-d animations (which I must say, are many good as well.) Poor children. They are missing out so much. All these classics. The beautiful music and adventures. Wonderful.
This movie, Quest for Camelot also reminded me of these other beautiful non-Disney animations that are often forgotten.

I’ve now made a list of non-Dinsey animations that I’m going to watch as soon as possible. These are all movies I loved as a little girl, but these are definitely not only-girls movies. And you’re never to old for these movies either. ;)

Sigrúnarljóð (Sigrun’s poem)

This is one of the most beautiful poems I’ve ever read. It actually made me cry. It’s in icelandic but I just had to share it, regardless of you understanding it or not. It’s a love-poem written in 1820 to a dying girl.

Þú angraðir mig áðan með orðum þínum, Sigrún!

Ég bað þig aftur mig hitta,
ef andaðist þú fyrri;
kvaðst þú ei trúa að kalda
eg kyssi þig vildi,´né hjúpaða hvítbleika
þig höndum umspenna.
